International Yoga Festival 2017

On June 17th, as part of that celebration, the International Yoga Festival was held as a whole day event at the UBC Student Recreation Center. For the third year in a row, the festival attracted a large and diverse crowd from different backgrounds and levels of knowledge of the Yoga tradition and practice.

The festival promoted all traditional aspects of Yoga, including Asanas, Pranayama, Meditation, Mantras, and Vedanta Philosophy. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm among attendees who participated in yoga practice, meditation, and enjoyed food for wellness and healthy living.

The event was enriched by the presence of Yoga Gurus such as Maitreyi Yogacharini, Nirmala Raniga, Jeffrey Armstrong. Event participants from sponsors to attendees and Yoga Gurus shared the philosophy of a holistic approach to healthy living and acknowledged our responsibility to protect the planet for further generations.

As an annual event, the International Yoga Festival – Vancouver will be held again in 2018 at an even bigger scale to promote the message of Yoga and wellness.

Yogic Gala Dinner 2017

On June 9th 2017, In VanDusen Botanical Garden, Vancouver IC-SEA celebrated their 3rd Annual Yogic Dinner celebration. In a jam packed hall with renowned Yoga Gurus, enthusiasts, supporters and sponsors.

At the dinner, IC-SEA President Aditya Tawatia delivered a speech where he shared organization’s  vision and goal to spread the message of wellness and unity in individuals and communities through the fundamentals of Yoga teachings.

On that occasion, Acting consul General of India Mr. Amar Jit Singh praised the good work being done by IC-SEA, Mr. Tawatia and his team.

Vancouver Langara MLA Mr. Michael Lee was also present to represent the provincial government. In his speech, he applauded the the hard work and appreciated the efforts done by Indo-Canadian Socio-Economic Association in the fields those are directly beneftting  mother nature.

The evening was eventful and very authentic to the core. During the course of presentation, Keshava, a gifted young musician played tabla. Marta Villa, a French with strong Spanish roots performed Flamenco dance at it’s best. Nathanael Webber accompanied her in performance.

International Yoga Day 2016 Celebration

In 2014, United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). More than 170 countries including Canada supported this move. The Indo-Canadian Socio-Economic Association (IC-SEA) organized very successful events in 2015 to celebrate the first IDY.

In 2016, IC-SEA supported the Consul General of India in organizing second International Day of Yoga celebrations.

On the morning of June 25th 2016, ICSEA also organized an event in celebration of the International Yoga Day in Vancouver at the Segal Building, SFU campus (500 Granville Street).

There was a full fledged Yoga session conducted by trained and eminent Yoga Teachers. Attendees enjoyed food and snacks, and received a souvenir book which included the complete protocol from Ministry of AYUSH, India with 39 Yoga Postures.


Yogic Gala Dinner 2016

In 2014, United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) declared June 21st as the International Day of Yoga (IDY). More than 170 countries including Canada supported the decision.

In June 2016, IC-SEA hosted the second Yogic Gala Dinner for their members and friends. The event was attended by Consul General of India – Vancouver Shri Rajiv Chander, and member of Parliament Sukh Dhaliwal. Event attendees enjoyed first-class dinner, listened to speeches by different speakers, including  IC-SEA president Aditya Tawatia, and enjoyed a variety of entertainment pieces and musical performances.

Reception and Dinner for Chief Minister of Haryana (India) Shri Manohar Lal Khattar

On August 21st 2015, IC-SEA hosted a reception and dinner to welcome Hon. Chief Minister of Haryana Shri Manohar Lal Khattar, Captain Abhimany, and Haryana’s business delegation at the Aria Banquet & Convention Center in Surrey.

International Day of Yoga 2015 – Vancouver

On June 21st 2015, IC-SEA presented its very first event for the International Day of Yoga. June 21st was declared as the official International Day of Yoga by the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in 2014 through a decision supported by 183 countries.

The event included a keynote speech, a Yoga workshop, and a networking session. Among others, Yoga Acharya Sri Venu from Sivananda Yoga, Manjari Kansal and Naseem Gulamhusein from Langara College spoke and instructed event attendees.
